Hayley Kiyoko has garnered a reputation for high-energy live shows, where, in addition to singing and dancing her way through set, she’s known to take a whack or two at the drums. The talent was honed during a string of childhood lessons. However, at this moment right now, she’s a bit sleepy.

Its quiet, pagoda-dotted grounds attract a host of people: local parents, looking for a place to let their kids play; tourists looking for the ultimate Instagram opportunity by posing next to the shrine’s army of cat sculptures; and devote Buddhist pilgrims, chanting, clapping, and ringing bells as part of their prayers.

When she was nine years old, Jófríður Ákadóttir was punished for disturbing an elf. Or at least, she believes she was.
You could go to Bora Bora for your honeymoon. Or Paris. Or Iceland. But if you’re a certain type of person, there’s only one place you want to go after tying the knot: the Happiest Place on Earth(™).
Soccer Mommy’s recent full-length Clean is a collection of lullabies inspired by late-era 1990s pop music, paired with searing lyrics, in which singer/songwriter Sophie Allison uses her jagged guitar melodies to better understand herself, the world around her, and the people who inhabit it. (“’Cause I’m just a puzzle piece trying to fit just right / So I could be someone who’s stuck inside your mind,” she tells a lazy lover on “Skin.”) Her music is the frantic exploration of an intelligent nineteen-year-old, an age full of wonder that too often gets glossed over by teen films and adults eager to romanticize the final days of adolescence.
Located in Sant Pere de Ribes, Mas Solers isn’t more than 30 minutes outside of Barcelona. But situated in the seaside town’s rolling hills, on a terrifyingly twisty highway that Google Maps seems to think is walkable, (Pro-tip: It’s definitely not.) just getting out to the countryside felt like an adventure into the past.

Montreal’s drinking culture is indeed legendary. And it’s not just for our unwavering hospitality to young Americans looking to drink before they turn 21. The sheer amount of beer– both homebrewed in Québec and imported– is legion, and we’re dedicated to sussing out new brews at a fast clip.

Elena Tonra says more with her laughter than most people do with words. Over bowls of steaming soup at a pub in London’s Putney neighborhood, the Daughter singer/songwriter unleashes her laughter frequently, as the conversation tumbles from delight (an upcoming promotional trip to Spain being the perfect excuse for hot chocolate and churros), to solidarity (we quickly discover we’re both chronic over-thinkers), to the odd combination of heartbreak and determination that led her to her new solo album, recorded under name Ex:Re.
